Is blueberry low FODMAP?

Low FODMAP

Yes. Blueberries are low FODMAP in a typical portion, such as a handful on cereal or yogurt. Larger servings can add up, so spread fruit out.

Monash University lists blueberries as a low FODMAP fruit. A handful on oats or lactose-free yogurt is an easy way to eat fruit during the elimination phase.

Portion still matters

Fruit contains fructose, and very large servings can push even a low FODMAP fruit over the limit. Stick to one portion of fruit per sitting and spread fruit out across the day. Check the Monash University FODMAP app for tested portions.

Watch blueberry products

Blueberry muffins and pancakes are usually made with wheat flour, which is high in fructans (see bread). Dried blueberries and juice blends are concentrated and may be sweetened with apple juice.

Other low FODMAP fruits

Try strawberries, kiwi, oranges or pineapple.
