Is green pea low FODMAP?

High FODMAP

No. Green peas are high FODMAP in a typical serving; only a very small portion is low. Snow peas and sugar snap peas are low only in small amounts.

Monash University lists green peas as a high FODMAP vegetable at a typical serving. Only a very small portion, such as a spoonful scattered through a dish, stays low FODMAP.

Snow peas, sugar snaps and split peas

Snow peas and sugar snap peas are low FODMAP only in small amounts, a few pods rather than a bowlful. Split peas are a legume and are listed by Monash as high in GOS, so pea and ham soup or dal made with split peas is high FODMAP. Check the Monash University FODMAP app for tested portions.

Easy swaps

Green beans are low FODMAP and work in most places peas do. Carrot, spinach and broccoli heads also bring color to a plate. See also chickpeas and lentils.
